Craig Goldy is best known for his astonishing contributions to the band DIO, named after the legendary lead singer Ronnie James Dio; former lead vocalist for Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow and Black Sabbath.
Goldy is no stranger to starting things from scratch and making a big impression on the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal community worldwide! From leaving home at the age of 14 to avoid an abusive family and living on the streets to Headlining Madison Square Garden with his favorite singer, Ronnie James Dio.
Prior to that, as lead guitarist on the debut album for the band Giuffria which had a huge top 40 hit song and #9 in the nationwide top 20 video countdown, and who’s guitar solo made MTV news and Eddie Van Halen to claim that it would be Goldy if Eddie ever had to step down as the guitar hero of the 21st Century that would take his place!
Also, voted #3 in the top 10 Rock guitarists of all time, and his first solo album at #10 in Japan above Guns n’ Roses and Ozzy Osbourne, it was at that same time, as a songwriter for Warner Bros. that Goldy’s songwriting abilities had Van Halen’s David Lee Roth calling Goldy at home asking for more ideas for Roth’s’ 3rd solo album, with that album achieving Gold status shortly to follow!
In the most recent years the “Very Beast of Dio” going Gold and the Dio album “Dream Evil” going Platinum, as well as the tribute album for Mr. Dio going to #20 in the billboard charts and 2 Grammy nominations, one of which a Grammy was won! Goldy also served on the hard rock and heavy metal committee for the Grammys, and was called in to evaluate many of the nominations thereby ensuring fair results for future nominees in those categories.
It is Goldy’s intention to prove his theory sound - that even though the internet has changed things drastically, record companies are not obsolete, and going it alone and marketing yourself on the internet is not the “cure-all” either. The process involved in reaching people’s hearts through music, in order for them to literally “need” that music is still the same process, and Goldy has once again found his niche within that process, alongside of the immeasurable abilities of many amazing musicians now working with Goldy. Members of Deep Purple, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio, Ozzy, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot, Lynch Mob, Judas Priest, Yngwie Malmsteen, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Rod Stewart, John Lennon, Jeff Beck, Cream, and many more that are now a part of Goldy’s global releases and/or the band “Dio Disciples” that was formed by Ronnie’s own band as well as wife and Manager Wendy Dio to help keep his music alive!
